A Shared Story of Growth, Trade, and Agricultural Collaboration
On June 12th, 2025, SiCar Farms had the honor of participating in the event commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Mexico–Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (MOFA) in Tokyo.
This celebration brought together leaders from the public and private sectors, diplomats, business representatives, and academics from both countries to reflect on the achievements of the past two decades and strengthen bilateral cooperation for the future.

A voice from the Mexican countryside
During the event, Marcelo Zamora, sales representative for Asia-Pacific at SiCar Farms, participated as a speaker representing Mexico’s agricultural export sector. He shared the company’s success story in the bilateral trade relationship, highlighting its role as a trusted supplier of Mexican lime to the Japanese market.
“This agreement has allowed companies like SiCar Farms to expand their presence in Asia by meeting Japan’s high standards for quality, traceability, and sustainability. We don’t just export fruit — we bring the dedication of our growers, our environmental commitment, and the authentic flavor of our land,” said Zamora.
Strengthened by key institutions
The event was made possible through the coordination and support of key institutions involved in Japan–Mexico relations, including:
- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (MOFA)
- The Ministry of Economy of Mexico in Japan
- SADER (Mexico’s Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development, Japan Office)
- COMCE (Mexican Business Council for Foreign Trade)
- The Embassy of Mexico in Japan
- With support from organizations such as JETRO and KEIDANREN
Their presence underscored the importance of the EPA in strategic sectors such as agriculture, where the quality and reliability of Mexican products have strengthened commercial and cultural ties.
Agriculture at the heart of 20 years of free trade
Since the EPA came into effect in 2005, agri-food trade between Mexico and Japan has seen steady growth. Companies like SiCar Farms have played a critical role in this progress, positioning Mexican lime as a premium product in the Japanese market.
Beyond exporting fresh and healthy produce, SiCar Farms delivers internationally certified products cultivated through sustainable practices, while also creating economic opportunities for farming communities in Mexico.
Looking ahead

The anniversary gathering also served as a forum to envision the future of Mexico–Japan relations. Speakers from academia, industry, and government highlighted the need for stronger partnerships, innovations in logistics, and continued promotion of responsible agriculture.
At SiCar Farms, we remain committed to serving as a bridge between Mexico and Japan, generating value for both countries.
United by land, flavor, and trust
Our participation in this event reaffirms our mission: to grow with purpose, to farm with respect, and to collaborate with partners who share our vision for sustainability, prosperity, and cultural connection.
We extend our gratitude to all the organizations that made this celebration possible—and especially to our partners in Japan for their continued trust in Mexican produce.
Here’s to many more years of friendship and cooperation between Mexico and Japan!
